4 A noun that names any person, place or thing is called a common noun. A noun that names a particular person, place or thing is called a proper noun. Proper nouns are always capitalized. Which nouns above are common nouns? Which nouns are proper nouns?

5 Challenge: Take a look at your list of favorite people, places, and things. Circle all of the proper nouns on your list. Do they all begin with capital letters?

6 Mega-challenge: Switch lists with a friend. Write common nouns to accompany all of the proper nouns on your friends list. (Example- If your friend wrote McDonalds, you write restaurant beside it.
