Office of Quality, Planning, and Research
2
Purpose of Analysis This analysis is intended to provide community-based policymakers and stakeholders with pertinent information about children and youth who died by suicide between 2013 and 2016. In turn, policymakers and stakeholders may be able to use this information to pinpoint strategies to improve prevention, treatment, and post-vention activities within their communities for children and youth at-risk of suicide.
3
Methodology The Ohio Violent Data Reporting System (OH-VDRS) is the source of this information. The Ohio Department of Health through funding from the U.S. Center of Disease and Control works with various community officials, such as the local medical examiner and law enforcement, to collect information about individuals who have died by violent means, including suicide. The data presented in this slide show is for January 2013 through December 2015. Suicide decedents under the age of 25 are included in this analysis. Analysts computed frequencies, means, and medians to represent trends and comparisons among sub-groups.
