3. The Pawnee lived along the Platte River in the present-day state of Nebraska which is part of the Great Plains.

Most Pawnee Indians lived in settled villages of round earthen lodges. Pawnee lodges were made from wooden frames covered with packed earth.

5. When the Pawnee tribe went on hunting trips, they used buffalo-hide tipis (or teepees) as temporary shelter

6. Near the villages were fields where the squaws raised corn, beans, pumpkins and melons,--digging the ground with a sharpened stick or a hoe made by fastening the shoulder blade of a buffalo to a pole.
