“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:1,2

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:3,4

“Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.” 1 Corinthians 15:15,16

“And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” 1 Corinthians 15:17-19

Consequences if There is No Resurrection Then…
If Christ was resurrected—why do some preach there is NO resurrection? (12) No resurrection—Christ has NOT risen (13) Our “preaching is in vain” (14) Your “faith is also vain” (14) We are found “false witnesses” (15) Yet “in your sins” (17)

Consequences if There is No Resurrection Then…
If dead do not rise—no resurrection (16) “Yet in our sins” (17) Those that have “fallen asleep in Christ have perished” (18) We are of all men “most pitiable” (19)

Christ is the “firstfruits” (never to die again) of those who have died (20) Death came by man (21) –physical death—Romans 5:12 By “Man” (Christ) came the resurrection (21)

We OverCome the Grave & Death!

Verse 38—Our current body is as a seed sown in the ground. God is the One who raises the dead – if He can create the entire universe with a word – certainly He can raise the dead and equip the resurrected body to meet His desire! God has His order of things – in the realm of agriculture it is consistent with His order – We will be have a body suited to our needs according to His designed order.

Verse 40—Another illustration. The "celestial bodies" apparently are those mentioned in the next verse, i.e. the sun, moon and the stars each having its own glory. The "terrestrial bodies” are any bodies found upon the earth, including man and the animals, those bodies mentioned in the previous verses.

A Glorious Body—Our Final Victory The Resurrection Body?—(15:35-49)
Verse 42 - So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. Verse 43 - It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. Verse 44 - It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. First man (Adam) was a living being(45) Last “Adam” became a life giving spirit (45) The natural was first—then comes the spiritual (46) Physical body must die—to gain the spiritual body!

“The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.” 1 Corinthians 15:47-49

First man (Adam) was from earth— made of dust (47) {Genesis 2:7} Second “Man” is the Lord from heaven (47) Born the image of the dust—must also bear the image of the heavenly (48,49) Physical body must die—to gain the spiritual body!

“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:50,51

For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:52,53

O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”

Paul concluding admonition… Fact: there is a resurrection— our hope for eternal life is real! “Steadfast”—firm “Unmovable”—to put to flight “Abounding in the work of the Lord”—do as much as we can and have opportunity to do. “Labor not in vain”—will result with a home in heaven! 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” A Glorious Body—Our Final Victory Victory in Christ!! -(15:54-58) (1) Paul concluding admonition… (2) Facts there is a resurrection—our hope for eternal life is real!
