A Day in the Life of a First Grader Mrs. Lasher

2 7:20 – 7:50 Unpack, make lunch choice, place open agenda book on desk and prepare for the day. Eat breakfast if needed. Use restroom. Participate in Minds in Motion, pledge, and morning announcements.

3 7:50 – 8:30 Morning Work Word Sorts Xtra Math 3

4 8:30 – 9:30 Guided Reading Determined by need – not always grade level instruction Dibels, SRI, Phonics Assessment Students could work with any teacher from Kindergarten to third grade. 4

5 9:30 – 9:45 Restroom Recess 5

6 9:45 – 10:30 Special Class Schedule: Monday- Art Tuesday-Media
Wednesday- P.E. Thursday- Technology Friday- Music 6

7 10:30– 11:15 Writer’s Workshop Model writing
Writing prompts and free choice writing Learn the 6 steps of the writing process Brainstorming Drafting Conferencing Revising Editing Publishing 7

8 11:15– 12:15 Restroom Lunch Recess 8

9 12:15– 1:30 Guided Math Determined by need – not always grade level instruction Work in small groups or one-on-one with teacher Groups change daily!!! Ms. Forler and Mrs. Sisley will be present to offer additional support. 9

10 1:30 – 2:15 Shared Reading Introduce Word Wall Words
Introduce Word Families Spotlight on Comprehension Daily Message Beginning of the year: Read message and find capitals, periods, word wall words, base words and endings, compound words, contractions. Middle of the year: Find mistakes in the message. 10

11 1:45– 2:30 Science or Social Studies
Will alternate between science units and social studies units 11

12 2:30– 2:45 Dear Time and Remediation Xtra Math continued Ipads
Small group work computer 12

13 2:45– 3:00 Agendas Fill out agenda book and put number from the chart. Pack 13

14 2:55– 3:05 Read Aloud Dismissal 14

15 My Pledge to Students I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help when needed.

16 Mrs. Schaefer 7:50-3:00 Your child may talk about working with Mrs. Schaefer. Mrs. Schaefer pulls students individually to check their key ring and fluency She also is a guided reading center. Mrs. Schaefer is an irreplaceable part of our first grade team!! 16

17 First Grade IREAD IREAD type of test given in May
It is a predictive test to determine students at risk. Students are monitored all year. The test is individually administered. 17

18 Behavior This year I am using a “Clip Chart”. Let me explain 
