Boscalid, or internally called BAS 510 F, belongs to the chemical class carboxamides.
One can discriminate between two parts of the anilid structures: the carbonic acid part and the amino part.
Boscalid is formulated with 500 g. a.i.as a WG and in combination with the strobilurin kresoxim-methyl ( g a.i.) as an SE formulation.

3. The target of Boscalid is located in the mitochondria, more exactly in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
Boscalid inhibits complex II of the mitochondrial electron transport chain. As it is one a part of the energy building processes in the respiration chain, this electron transport chain is crucial for the pathogen’s energy supply.
On the other hand, complex II forms a part of a second important physiological process of the fungus: the tricarboxylic acid cycle.
In the TCA cycle many important carbonic acids are synthesised, which are then used to build many other essential compounds in other cell compartments.
That means: complex II forms an essential junction between 2 physiological processes.
Through its inhibition of complex II, Boscalid disrupts fungal growth by preventing energy production. At the same time it inhibits fungal development by eliminating the availability of the chemical building blocks for the synthesis of other essential cellular components.
