4 Net Budget Income Sources

5 Some facts and figures We spend about £300m a year on services
Only £47m is raised from Council Tax 12 big areas take up 82% of our budget – not all funding is negotiable We are largest employer in Angus and redundancies have happened In the last 4 years we have already cut £27M from our budget We are expecting to cut another £40M + over the next 4 years

6 Where does money get spent?
12 big areas of spend, some largely fixed e.g. PPP commitments These 12 make up 82% of total net budget We have to save the money where we spend it! 6

7 Angus a place to live, work and visit
We want to have the best education service in Scotland We want Angus to be a ‘go to’ area for businesses. We want to ensure everyone in Angus gets the best opportunities We want our communities to be strong, resilient and led by citizens. We want Angus Council to be efficient and effective. So what does this look like? Tay Cities deal has highlighted our entire geographical area as a place for business. In Angus we know we offergreat support for small business. We want to explain and encourage bigger businesses to locate here People want to live in Angus. Just last week, people queued up outside overnight Taylor Wimpey in Monifieth to put their deposit down on their new home. We want to ensure our 240 looked after children are well cared for. And older people living in their own homes are given enough support to allow them to stay there. We will focus our older people’s services on re-enabling people who have been in hospital to ensure they get stronger and can look after themselves. As a Council we are already changing the way we do business to make it as easy and as streamlined as possible. Efficient and responsive. Finally – we want to do a deal with you. Example from Wigan. What do we want to put in Angus’ deal?

8 An example from Wigan The “Deal” is between the Council and the citizens it serves
