Mughal India Location Trade
Centered in Northern India – (Southern India remained largely independent but engaged in international trade) Trade European trade-posts set up in Northern (Mughal) India Indian textiles were in HUGE demand from the British textile industry Portugal, England, and the Netherlands engaged in fierce competition over control of the Indian ocean and trade-posts along the coast of the Indian subcontinent (This was done by those same trading companies from last unit!) Southern India traded silks, spices, and gems

Mercantilism An economic practice adopted by European colonial powers in an effort to become self-sufficient based on the theory that colonies existed for the benefit of the mother country

Commercial Revolution
European maritime nations competed for overseas markets, colonies, and resources. A new economic system emerged: New money and banking systems were created. Economic practices such as mercantilism evolved. Colonial economies were limited by the economic needs of the mother country.
