UO Alert Notification System
Provides official information during emergencies or crisis situations that may disrupt the normal operation of the University or threaten the health or safety of members of the campus community. Utilizes text and message technologies to send messages to participating text-enabled mobile phone devices. Additional modes: Social media Local Media Official way that emergency information is shared with campus. UO addresses are automatically added and can’t be opted out. Can add two cell numbers through DuckWeb. Can add a 3rd, phone, but that notification will come through as a text to speech call. More detailed information will be available on the alerts blog – texts only allow 140 characters which is not a lot of room to provide detail. If you hear a rumor of something, go to the alerts blog. We know we can’t reach 100% of campus, so it is important that everyone shares alert info with those around you.
