Forms of Writing tells a story to entertain has a plot has characters
has a setting has conflict retells events from the past has linking words about time has a logical sequence of events action verbs often told in first person (I) to convince the reader pf a belief has a clearly stated belief or opinion detailed facts to support the opinion addresses the opposing side seeks to inform sometimes has diagrams or pictures has explanations and examples sometimes step-by-step instructions smooth transitions bullets or numbering sometimes very organized and detailed done to classify or describe information on a specific topic uses present tense vocabulary is relevant to the topic sometimes has headings and subtitles clear and concise done to explain how things work or happen vocabulary relevant to the topic clear concise information that is well sequenced pictures/diagrams
