Day 44 In AP Physics 1) You remind me of last class 2) Preliminaries
3) Advanced Gravitation/Density 4) Gravitational Force, Centripedal
2
QUESTIONS TO START OFF 1) Remind me about how gravitational fields work 2) How do you calculate magnitude and direction of the field at a point? 3) Whats the difference between gravitational mass and inertial mass?
3
To calculate the field strength due to gravitation:
g = G(M/d2), where: g is the field strength/surface G is the gravitational constant 6.67x10-11 M is the object mass d is the distance between the center of masses of the two objects

Example

Example
8
A steel sphere of mass M and radius r is now replaced by a steel sphere that is three times the radius of the original. Now what is the surface gravitational field?

12
What do you think this means?
Find the difference between his weight on Mars and Earth? Find the proportion between his weight on Mars and Earth? Determine what is asked, send it in!
14
What the heck does THAT mean? Brainstorm…
15
Apparent mass is the mass based on the assumption of Earth gravity with another weight.
Send it in
17
Gravitational Force… g*M
18
Rank these based on gravitational attraction
From MOST to LEAST, send in. Ex: 4123
19
Brief Activity Grab a marker, come to the hall with me
21
Idea about Inward Imbalance:
In order to curve (not go straight)…
25
Try to create a net force equation for the imbalance.
