The charge for the remnant to wait for the Lord (3:8a)
“Therefore”: an inference from what? “Wait!”: a positive exhortation (cf. 2:1, 3; Ps 33:20; Isa 64:4) “Seize the prey”? LXX: “for the day of my arising as witness” NIV: “for the day I will stand up to testify” Cf. Jer 29:23; 42:5; Mic 1:2; Mal 3:5 22:1–32:1

Reason 1: The Lord’s purpose to judge all nations of the earth (3:8bc) A great gathering for judicial assessment (cf. 1:1–2)––every people group and political power. God’s call: “Persist in hope because it is still my intention to punish evil.” God is jealous for our affection: Rightfully jealous Necessarily jealous Lovingly jealous 22:1–32:1
