Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy in the Discoveries of C60
We are proud to announce Prof. Donald R. Huffman University of Arizona Regents Professor Emeritus Will give a seminar entitled: Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy in the Discoveries of C60 Thurs., Sept. 24 at 4 pm Olin 205 Brief reception in Olin rotunda immediately following All students and community members welcome. Since the beginning of history, humankind had only ever held two pure forms of carbon in their hands (graphite and diamond). Prof. Huffman is jointly responsible for discovering a method to produce the third: C60 or buckminsterfullerene. Come hear the historical perspective of the discoveries motivated by the intersection of three fields of science! The talk is open to all and will be given at a general audience level.
