1 Names of God Adonai

2 15 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue[a] childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son[b] shall be your heir.” 5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Genesis 15:1-5

3 Adonai Means “sovereign Lord”
Abram had a issue, the issue was that he could not have any children because his wife was barren. The first born son plays an extremely important role in the Jewish culture. The role of the firstborn son carries significance in the redemption of the first born son, in the allocation of a double portion of the inheritance, and in the prophetic application of “firstborn” to the nation of Israel Adonai

4 Abram knows that God is a powerful, infinitely wonderful, Master of his life and supreme ruler of the earth. Yet, he cannot see past his own circumstances, past what the world had given him, in order to rest in the promise that Adonai God had made to him. Abram’s Issue

5 What were God’s promises
The Abrams descendants, the children of his seed, would one day fill the earth. God had to remind Abram to turn his eyes away from His circumstances and onto God’s Sovereignty: “Look up at the sky and count the stars…” Who made those stars? Who rules those stars? Adonai himself. What were God’s promises

6 Scriptures of Adonai’s Power
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through Him and for Him. Romans 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. Scriptures of Adonai’s Power

7 Scriptures of Adonai’s Power
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. Scriptures of Adonai’s Power

8 Scriptures of Adonai’s Power
Psalm 62:11 Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God. Ephesians 1:19-21 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
