Definition Real·tor (re'al-tôr')
a registered collective membership mark which may be used by real estate professionals who are members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and subscribe to its Code of Ethics.

The Member Test REALTOR® = member
Substitute the word “member” for “REALTOR® ” in the sentence or phrase where it is being used. Determine whether the sentence or phrase still maintains the original intended meaning. REALTOR® equals member of the National Association of REALTORS®. Use “The Member Test” to determine whether your use of REALTOR® is proper. Here’s how: Substitute the word MEMBER for REALTOR® in the sentence or phrase where it is being used. Then, determine whether the sentence still makes sense.

Proper Use of the REALTOR® Marks by Members
May use in connection with member’s name or firm name Must use separating punctuation May not use the trademarks within a business name REALTOR® should appear in all capital letters with the registration symbol ® For example: Sarah Smith, REALTOR® Smith Realty, REALTORS®
