Explain to the students how all these radio stations are all coming together to make lots of money to change young lives and are in need of your help
Information about the charity:
Global’s Make Some Noise is a national charity that helps disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK.
It is passionate about music and entertainment, and how it can be used to make a difference in the communities in which it broadcast.
The Charity is going to help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
These children may be affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity.
The power of radio is going to be used to MAKE SOME NOISE for those who struggle to be heard

3. Jade
Teachers’ Notes
Explain that the money raised by Make Some Noise will be used to help young people across the UK who may be affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity. Here are some stories about some of the children who will benefit from the money raised.
Jade’s Story:
Jade was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma - a form of bone cancer - aged 14. She did not have any symptoms other than a slight feeling of internal swelling in her left leg, but when she broke her leg in an accident, a tumour was found on her X-ray.
 The X-ray resulted in a fast diagnosis and she started treatment quickly. Chemotherapy is really tough but Jade said, “I decided to toughen up and begin my fight.”
  Jade had nine months of treatment in total. She was confided to bed for the first four months at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow because her leg remained broken for that time as the chemotherapy prevented it healing. Jade then had surgery to remove 27cms of her femur (thigh bone) which was then replaced with a titanium rod. Following the surgery, Jade received five more months of chemotherapy treatment, again at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit but this time she was able to move about and also go home for periods of time.
 Jade found her experience with Teenage Cancer Trust really positive, describing the nurses as kind, helpful and understanding. She also found the nurses really easy to talk to. 
  She said: “I found it hard at times but I kept telling myself it will be OK and I stayed positive. My advice to anyone going through cancer is to try not to worry too much. Try and look for the silver lining.”
  Jade is now in remission and was asked to help recruit a new Youth Support Coordinator for the unit she was treated on. She is also helping newly diagnosed young people with cancer whilst studying at college and enjoying her new boat – something that was bought whilst she was in hospital to give her a new hobby for when she was better.

4. Ruby Teachers’ Notes Ruby’s Story
The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is another project supported by Make Some Noise, and is a project which greatly supported little Ruby and her family in the very early days of her life.
When Ruby was 3 days old, her parents found out she had a life threatening heart-condition, and required a heart operation at just four weeks old. Then in December 2010, once she had grown to a healthy size, Ruby underwent 9 hours of open-heart surgery. Her parents were petrified about handing her over to the surgery team, but they knew that without this surgery she would die anyway. Ruby recovered well from her operation, and today attends mainstream school and is a lively, busy chatterbox who does not let her condition stand in the way of leading a normal life.
Ruby’s parents were offered counselling which was funded by the project in the run up to her second operation; which helped them a great deal, and they take comfort in knowing that advice and support is available whenever they need it in the future.
