11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward (Psa 19:11).

CIRCUMSTANCES The Prodigal “came to himself” (Lk 15:14-19). God has it within His power to arrange circumstances that serve to warn us. 15 Good understanding gains favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard (Prov. 13:15).
4
12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death (Prov. 14:12).
5
This is a part of the way God “disciplines” us (He 12:3-11).
A great part of wisdom consists in the ability to receive warning from our circumstances. 19 A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again. (Prov. 19:19).

25 Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge. (Prov. 19:25) 11 When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge. (Prov. 21:11)

COUNSEL Part of the greatness of David’s character lay in his willingness to be warned by the advice and correction of others (1 Sam. 25:32-35; 2 Sam. 12:1-15).
8
We have no better friends than those who will admonish us:
5 Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, 6 but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful (Prov. 27:5,6).
9
16 Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? (Gal. 4:16)
10
It is the height of folly to refuse to be warned by others.
15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. (Prov. 12:15) 10 A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool. (Prov. 17:10)
11
22 Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. (Prov. 23:22)
12
CONSCIENCE Joseph is a great example of a person who paid attention to the warnings of his conscience (Genesis 39:7-10). 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. (1 Tim. 4:2)
13
25 As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, “That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you” (Acts 24:25).

6 Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. (Proverbs 17:16).
15
It is the fool who is heedless--he will not let himself be warned.
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7)

Not only should we be willing to be warned, we have the obligation to warn others.
31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. (Acts 20:31)

28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ (Col 1:28). 14 And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone (1 Thess. 5:14).
