1 Ragging Defined by the Supreme Court of India, as actions that “adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.” Commonly involves abuse and serious violations of human rights. Has been declared a criminal offence by the Supreme Court of India (2001, 2007).

2 Anti ragging laws Supreme court advised the home ministry to to amend the IPC and include ragging as an offence (2007). The bill still has not been passed. Supreme court has given guidelines for the educational institutes to prevent ragging. CBI report- onus on institutions, parents and students to sign undertaking, FIR to be filed against people indulging in ragging, it should be included in the IPC specifically.
