1. ATOMS page 4, Section 3 Atoms- the smallest unit of life
Everything in the universe, living and non-living, is made up of atoms
Atoms join together to form molecules that make up most of existence
MOLECULE- group of two or more atoms

2. Atoms are made up of 3 SUBATOMIC particles:
Protons- housed in nucleus, positive charge
Neutrons- found in nucleus, no charge (neutral), number of neutrons can affect atoms mass

3. Electrons- found outside of the nucleus, negative charge, VERY small compared to neutrons and protons ( in fact…it would take about 2,000 electrons to equal the mass of one proton)
