2 Introductions: Begin with a hook or attention grabber Transition:
Do NOT use a question, instead try a surprising quote related to your topic Transition: Rephrase the research question Give the basic situation Give basic background information Establish your ethos Thesis (last sentence of paragraph)

3 Conclusion Recap and rephrase major points
Make a judgment that is supported by your research- not personal Do NOT use the phrase: “In conclusion”- it is way over used and more fitting for a persuasive paper

4 Body Paragraphs Every paragraph should start with a topic sentence (I know you know that, but sometimes I am surprised…) Each paragraph should stick to the topic provided by the first sentence and also support your thesis You can organize your paper in a variety of ways: As long as you are consistant Point by point: All of the types, then all of the long/short term, followed by all of the advantages/disadvantages Block method: 1st type- the long/short term, advantages/disadvantages 2ND type- the long/short term, advantages/disadvantages
