Term 2
At Glenmanor PS, we are committed to learning and have created an interdisciplinary plan to ensure continued learning during any school closures. The following activities can be carried out with your child.
Numeracy
Count to 100 in 2s.
Practise writing your 2x tables. Ask an adult to time you with a stopwatch!
Write numbers in the snow
Write some addition sums in the snow
Make a snowman using a variety of 2D and 3D shapes.
Play ‘Hit the Button’ on an iPad and practise your number bonds to 20
Find different colour leaves and make patterns.
Literacy
Revise all taught sounds and common words
Write common words in the snow.
Winter alphabet – think of a winter themed word for each letter of the alphabet. (a- angel, b – bell…)
Log onto spellingcity.com/mrscobbin and play games to practise your Phoneme words
Read and listen to winter themed stories. Write a story of your own and draw a picture to show your favourite part of the story.
Read/listen to weather reports. Create your own weather report and perform it to an audience.
Keep a Weather diary. Write down what you can see and hear each day.

Technologies
use a digital camera and take some winter photographs
Winter
Expressive Arts
Design and create a winter wonderland using cotton wool, tissue paper and cardboard.
Make some snowflakes. Decorate your snowflake.
Learn or make up a Winter themed song!
Social Studies
Put 3 ice cubes into 3 cups. Pour salt over one, sugar over another, and leave one alone. Tell an adult which ice cube will melt the fastest/slowest. Time how long each ice cube takes to melt and write down what you find.
Go for a winter sensory walk. Tell a friend 1 thing
you can see, hear, smell, taste, touch.
Use ice cubes to make an igloo home.
Health & Wellbeing
Play outdoors. Get lots of exercise. Stay safe and have FUN!!!
