Reading Reading books can be handed in on any day.
(we would not expect them to be). Reading should be a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Children should also read a book more than once to consolidate their skills and become confident readers.

Homework in Year 1 Reading Phonics- useful websites
Maths games- Children make progress best as mathematicians when they regularly repeat skills and practise them until they become embedded. This can be quite a long process sometimes, and so the use of the context of an exciting game or interesting activity can be highly motivating. In our experience, our children learn best when they are having fun and that's what games are for! Talking

Phonic Screening Every Year 1 child in the country will be taking the phonics screening check in the same week in June. The aim of the check is to ensure that all children are able to read by the end of year two.

Encourage your child to use their sound mat when writing. Children can practise their phonics by playing games online. The children particularly like ‘Buried Treasure’.
