DO NOW:
3
Today I will be able to: find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane. So I can learn how to describe the letter associated with the ordered pair, or the ordered pair associated with the letter and be able to plot ordered pairs. I will show I know it when I can verbally discuss with my partners how to identify at least 12 out of the 16 locations and then how to plot ordered pairs by plotting at least 4 out of the 5 ordered pairs successfully with at least 80% accuracy. 6.NS.C.6b and 6.NS.C.6c

ordered pairs x, y x y Fill in the blanks on pg. 60.
The origin is the point where the x- and y-axes intersect. The coordinates of the origin are (0, 0). ordered pairs x, y x y

Discussion With your group members discuss what happens when you plot points on the x-axis. What do the coordinates have in common? (you can use the graph on pg. 61 to support your answers) What happens when you plot points on the y-axis? What do the coordinates have in common?

Discussion: How is the ordered pair being used? (If Time)
Scenario 1: The seats in a college football stadium are arranged into 210 sections, with 144 seats in each section. Your ticket to the game indicated the location of your seat using the ordered pair of numbers (12, 103). Describe the meaning of each number in the ordered pair and how you would use them to find your seat.
