Flowcharts was introduced by Frank Gilbreth to members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in 1921 In the early 1930s, this tool was started to be embedded into industrial engineering curricula In 1947, ASME adopted a symbol set derived from Gilbreth's original work as the "ASME Standard: Operation and Flow Process Charts Later on, adapted and used

Process Flow Chart SYMBOL NAME DESCRIPTION Oval
The start or end of a processes Rectangular Process or action step Represents waiting period that is part of a process Diamond Shape When decision is needed, e.g. Yes/No or True/False.
