1 The lord of the vineyard – mark 11:27-12:12

2 Lord of the vineyard HIS GOODNESS – VS 1
- In this parable, the Lord of the vineyard is God. - The vineyard is Israel. - The husbandmen are the Jewish religious leaders. - The servants are the prophets God sent to Israel. - The beloved, only son of the Lord of the vineyard is the Lord Jesus.

3 LORD OF THE VINEYARD HIS GRACE – VS 2-8
- Having planted the vineyard, having done everything necessary for the vineyard to succeed, the owner sent his slaves to gather his portion of the profits. - Very common in those days for landowners to allow sharecroppers to farm the land for a percentage of the harvest. - The owner usually received between one-third and one-half. The farmers got the rest.

4 Lord of the vineyard Ø  God’s witness is around us – Psa. 19:1-4. God’s witness in the world around us leaves all people without excuse before Him, Rom. 1:20. Ø  God’s witness is within us – Rom. 2:14 tells us that God has written His Law on our hearts. Again, we are without excuse!

5 LORD OF THE VINEYARD 3. HIS GLORY – VS 9-12
In VS 10-11 Jesus changes the imagery. He stops talking about a vineyard and He starts talking about a building. He quotes Psalm 118:22 to make His point.  The key to a good foundation was a perfectly straight cornerstone. That stone, if straight would ensure that the building would be plumb and square. If the stone was not right, the building would not turn out right.

6 LORD OF THE VINEYARD CONCLUSION: When Matthew recorded this parable, he added this verse, “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder,” Matt. 21:44. That’s what everything comes down to. Either you will fall on Jesus and be broken in conviction, repentance and salvation, or He will fall on you and crush you to powder. Again, the choice is yours!
