2. Cells are the basic unit of life.
The Cell Theory states that:
All organisms are made up of one or more cells and the products of  those cells.
2) All cells carry out life activities ( require energy, grow, have a limited size).
3) New cells arise only from other living cells by the process of cell division.

Surrounds the cell. Protects, allows/controls movement of substances in to and out of the cell

GIVES SUPPORT TO PLANT CELLS and many single-celled organisms. Contains cellulose.

Present in all plant cells that make food. Contains chlorophyll that enables the cell to make food.

Jelly-like material which holds all the organelles between the cell membrane and the nucleus

Powerhouse of the cell. Sausage shaped with accordion folded membrane inside. Site of respiration. Energy is stored and released as needed.

Found along the edges of the membrane in ER. They assemble proteins for export to the Golgi bodies

11. Endoplasmic reticulum

Transport system of the cell. Protein is assembled here for export to the Golgi bodies. Made of folded membrane.

Lysosomes
Organelle which digest waste, worn out cell parts, and food molecules. Quickly breaks down a cell when it dies. Thin membrane protects a healthy cell from the digestive acids.

PROTEINS ARE PACKAGED AND STORED HERE for export when needed outside the cell.
