ALGEBRA I PRE-AP with MRS. STANDARD
CURRICULUM NIGHT ALGEBRA I PRE-AP with MRS. STANDARD
2
High School Credit This is a high school credited course.
Pre-AP is a copyrighted term from the AP College Board©. They expect certain standards to be followed to prepare for AP exams (CPM does a nice job). Only math STAAR “EOC” exam student must pass to graduate high school. 100% of last year’s students passed.
3
We are using College Preparatory Mathematics, or CPM
Your child received a book of their choice, soft-back or hard-back, and they are also entitled to a free eBook. They wrote down the PIN on their syllabus. Enroll Here The CPM website also has valuable information for both students and parents, including Homework Help.

Other forms of Curriculum
Imagine Math Online workplace for STAAR preparation. Objective Measure grades. The first deadline will be closer in September. EOC Algebra I Last STAAR exam for Math. Must pass to graduate high school. EOC focus integrated through Imagine Math, Take Home Tests, and Nine Weeks Exams.

Homework Procedures No Toolkit for this course. Students make notes and record lesson work into a thick college-ruled journal. “Review and Preview” CPM homework is done in a separate, graphing spiral. Every day, we will Q&A a problem or two (student choice) before grading a selection of problems, usually Some days we will have a quick Homework Check instead of grading. Some homeworks will be longer than others. There will be balance to this. NO WORK SHOWN = NO FULL CREDIT CPM online homework help

Chapter Quizzes and Tests
Students use both journals, notes and homework, on Chapter Quizzes. Quizzes can be tough…I use them to help students really see the details in their work. We focus on making improvements before the test. Chapter Tests: No journals may be used. Closure problems from the book are assigned for practice in advance. Good test grades will follow if there is earnest effort on EVERY homework, remediation from Chapter Quiz feedback, and a sufficient review of notes and lesson work that has been recorded.

Practice Help Homework help every morning at 7:45 am.
Students should start homework the night they receive it--homework assigned every class. Students should come prepared with questions to ask. Lots of kids, one teacher...35 minutes. May work on Imagine Math during this time, and graphing calculators available when necessary. (Students DO NOT need to purchase a graphing calculator for this class!) Wednesdays I am on duty in the cafeteria; we do Practice Help there, too. If I am absent, see another math teacher.
