6. 1. Examine Skin Color 4 skin tones
Cherry Red = heat stroke or carbon monoxide poisoning
Bluish tinge = poor oxygen supply
Yellow = Liver illness
Lack of color or Pale = shock or lack of circulation
Check other places for change in color:
Nail bed color
Whites of the eye
Inside of the lip

12. 5. Mouth Tooth/Jaw injuries Obstructions Braces Dentures
Jaw dislocation

13. 6. Spine If known Spine Injury is suspected: STOP and Immobilize
Ask victim if they can feel their toes.
Yes? – Ask if they can wiggle their toes
No? - Stop and immobilize

14. 7. Chest Wounds Observe chest movements
Look for any injuries to the chest

15. 8. Abdomen Does their stomach hurt?
Does the belly look swollen? Is it rigid?
Press gently for pain.

16. 9. Hip
Put Gentle pressure on Iliac Crest

17. 10. Extremities * Look for deformities *Sensation
-- Rub a finger on Skin or Pinch
*Wiggle Toes & Fingers

18. Lastly… Start taking care of any injuries Always Monitor Victim
If they become unconscious during Secondary Survey…
