EXTRA BONUS POINTS!!!! Just put one thing you have learned from this PowerPoint on a sticky note and put it on my locker the number is A967 by Mr. Danny’s room. Put your name on the note so Mr. Danny Knows who to give the points to. Also check out Stephen Merante’s PowerPoint.

SPINNING COIL WIRE MOTOR

Questions Answered In this circuit, the electricity flows out of the batteries, through the wires and the blue connector piece, to the stripped copper wire and into the red coil wire. This creates an electro magnet that causes the coil wire to spin. The coil is magnetic because the flow of electricity creates an electro magnet. My proof is that the coiled wire reacts with the two magnets placed beneath the coiled wire and the setup is similar in some ways of the first electro magnet lab we did where we created a temporary magnet. The electricity is turned on and off by completion of the circuit. When the small bolt connects the two metal forms on the blue connector piece, the circuit becomes a closed circuit. When the bolt is not connected, the circuit becomes an open circuit witch prevents the electricity from circulating around the circuit. The coil’s speed can be increased by two factors. One is having a battery that is fully charged. Batteries on their last legs don’t do so well in these types of labs. The other factor is the amount of magnets placed under the coiled wire, the more magnets the more magnetic force to propel the coiled wire. The coil can be changed in direction of spinning too. You can do this simply by changing witch sides positive and negative are on, this changes the flow of electricity and moves the coil in the opposite way. It works like wind on leaves, the wind blows one way and the leaves follow.

Comparing motors Both the compass and the coil were both motors but they had similar, yet contrasting qualities. The compass motor was manually operated and worked by a switch. It also had slow movement and would stop at an exact point or new magnetic north. The spinning coil had a rapid effect by repelling and attracting to the magnets. The coil was automatic and did not require manual assistance to keep going once the motor is created. The coil never stopped or found an exact point to calibrate with. Both motors however were powered by electricity. The motors also made a temporary and electro magnet when powered on. The motors also both rotated around one specific point, the compass rotated on the needle and the coil rotated on the ends of the coil

DON’T FORGET TO PUT A STICKY NOTE ON MY LOCKER, YOU CAN GET BONUS POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Hope this slide caught your attention
