9 Mississippi Community College Admissions
Any student who meets the graduation requirements for high school graduation is automatically eligible for entrance into a 2-year or community college. *The ACT test is also required for admission. Remember, a composite score of 20 on the ACT will award you FREE tuition at Holmes CC.

13 Mississippi University Admissions Requirements
Required Elective: (2 Carnegie Units) 1st unit must be either: Foreign Language OR Advanced World Geography 2nd unit must be one of the following: 2nd year language Advanced World Geography 5th math 5th science

14 I want to be a SENIOR! In order to be classified as a Senior, you must have: * completed English I, II and III * completed 3 maths * completed 13 additional units for a minimum of 18 units total

15 IMPORTANT! Please do not rely on Summer School to become a Senior!
Did you know that you must have at least a 55 in the class you fail in order to even attend Summer School? Anything lower, Summer School is not even an option!

Regular English III now = Regular English IV or Early College next year Accelerated English III now = Accelerated English IV, Early College, or AP English IV (depending on your teacher’s recommendation) AP English III now = you are highly encouraged to consider only AP English IV (pending teacher rec) Note: to be eligible for Early College English, students must CURRENTLY have a 3.0, 18 on the ACT and 17 on ACT English

Math Plus Algebra II SREB Math Early College Essentials Calculus AP AB Cal Algebra III Early College Note: to be eligible for Early College Algebra/Trig, students must currently have a 3.0, 18 on the ACT and 19 in the ACT math. Make sure you take a math your senior year!!

23 Algebra II recommendations
If you are in Algebra II now with a 15 or lower on the ACT math = SREB math next year on the ACT math = Essentials to College Math Only those students with an ACT math score lower than 15 or 18 will be allowed to take these courses. If you have an ACT math score of 19 or higher we recommend Algebra III or Early College

History Every Senior must take: .5 Government .5 Economics **Those students who meet AP requirements might consider AP Macro Econ or AP Government instead** * (AP Requirements: Grade of an A in your current Social Studies course and your current Social Studies teacher must sign your choice sheet.)

26 Science Recommendations
The GHS Science Department recommends a B or better in Biology and Algebra I to be successful in Chemistry. B average or better is recommended in Biology, Algebra II and Chemistry if you are considering Physics In order to take AP Physics, students must have completed Algebra III or higher

34 Students with Late Arrival must arrive by 9:54am
Students must have their own transportation. There will be NO bus to transport you. Students with Late Arrival must arrive by 9:54am Students can NOT have Early Dismissal and Late Arrival on the same day. Acceptable situations: A Day: Late Arrival B Day: Early Dismissal

35 Late Arrival Please remember that Late Arrival is a PRIVILEGE and is NOT a guarantee!

36 ACT classes available:
Academic Enrichment: ACT Prep I: designed to help students obtain an ACT score of at least a 20. Students should have scored no higher than a 20 on either the ACT or pre-ACT. ACT Prep II: designed to help students obtain an ACT score of at least a 29. Students should have scored in the mid 20’s on either the ACT or pre-ACT. Students who have taken the PSAT class are not eligible.

37 ISP Each student has an ISP (Individual Success Plan) on file. The ISP was completed by you based on your interests at the time. You may view your ISP through your ActiveStudent account. It offers a list of suggested courses to take in order to prepare you for your desired career field. Therefore, may assist you when picking classes for next year.

To your English teacher NO later than Friday, January 18 COMPLETED AND ENTERED INTO ACTIVESTUDENT! ALL alternate courses filled out AND parent signature (AND teacher signature if needed)

40 REMINDER: If you are locked out, please see Mrs. Bergeron in the Counselor’s office. When entering your choices into the computer, please: DO NOT add alternate courses Leave all courses as “required”

41 NO SCHEDULE CHANGES Therefore, choose wisely!

42 ACT at GHS for Juniors ALL Juniors will take the ACT at GHS on Wednesday, February 20, We will help you register so there is nothing you need to do yet. This is one of the MOST important tests you will take in high school! Make sure you are here that day and ready to test!

43 Something to consider:
The BEST way to increase your ACT score……….. take challenging courses! Don’t take the easy way out and take easy courses! And don’t forget: a 20 on the ACT equals FREE tuition at Holmes CC!
