3 Program Objectives Provide youth leaders with the knowledge, skills, and understanding that will allow them to create change in their schools and communities Expand awareness of prejudices and its harmful effects on individuals, groups and communities. Achieve greater self-esteem and respect for oneself and others through interaction with persons of different religions, races, and cultures. Develop skills necessary to help solve individual, family and group problems in human relations. To strengthen responsible citizenship and purpose in our homes, schools, community and nation

4 Program Component #1 Daily Themes/Discussion Groups
Understanding yourself as a person and leader Understanding your friends and family Understanding your school, community and world Taking the Mini-Town spirit home The discussion groups provide the opportunity for each participant to share their feelings and thoughts through open discussion and facilitated small group activities. Students gain personal understanding, self-confidence, self-awareness, and increased acceptance of others. Each day a different theme will be presented for discussion.

Prejudice Reduction- race/religion/gender/class Gender Skill Building – strategies Name Calling/Bullying *Groups are facilitated and run by trained and fingerprinted adults, high school and/or college students. All staff have attended trainings in regards to the content being covered at Minitown.

Camp costs (per camp) $17,400 Busses (per camp) ,250 T-shirts ,350 Supplies Director’s fees (per camp) ,500 Guest teachers subs (per camp) ,300 Pictures Total expenses (one camp) $30,750 (both camps) $61,500

9 Delegate Checklist- Label Everything!
Check weather for appropriate attire Water bottle Sleeping Bag and Pillow Warm Jacket, sweatshirts, gloves, hat Pajamas Underclothes Jeans/Long pants (no shorts) Sturdy Shoes (no sandals) Shower shoes Towels and washcloths Toiletries(shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush…) Camera-Cell phones will not be available during camp Flashlight with batteries· -cellphones will not be your flashlight SNACKS!! No $$$$

10 Behavior There will be non- negotiables:
1. Leaving room after lights out 2. Opposite sex being in restricted areas 3. Behavior contradicting camp goals 4. Contraband of any type In this event, parents will be called and student will go home immediately.

11 Other Misc items Student Mail- Saturday and Sunday
Medicine – Must be in original container with directions and placed in Ziploc bag. Boldly write student’s name on plastic bag. Cell Phones/I-Pods (on buses only) Student Mail- Saturday and Sunday

Logistics/Itinerary Student Drop Off– Friday 7:30a.m Tennis Courts ** Parents can also drop off donations when checking in students. Pick up - 4:30 pm Upper Lot (Please don’t be late! We love ‘em but three full days is enough! ☺)

Please drop off in the front office or with you in upper parking lot the morning of 12/7 and 1/18. Cases of bottled water Individually wrapped small snacks Sprite/Gatorade/Ginger Ale (cans preferred) Saltine Crackers Gallon size Ziploc bags Markers
