One of the important links between home and school Homework and letters Signed daily by staff Please read and complete information in the front Concerns / complaints: The complaints procedure is outlined in the contact book. If you have any concerns or complaints, your first port of call should be the class teacher.

Medicines All medicines need to be taken to the school office by an adult. Medication form to be completed Inhalers/epi-pens (2) to be in school at all times Allergies – medication (if needed) to be provided to the office. Children must not bring cough sweets into school.

UNIFORMS AND P.E. KIT Please label EVERYTHING!
Smart uniform is required everyday Wellingtons / waterproof coat/trousers Long hair should be tied up During term time, P.E. kit should be in school everyday (spare socks are needed to replace tights) No nail polish If applicable – earrings, one set of plain studs (earrings must be removed for all PE lessons).

SNACKS Children are provided with fruit in the morning
Please let me know if there are certain fruits your child doesn’t eat Milk

THE SCHOOL DAY Staff are on duty from 8:35am - Bell rings at 8:45am
Children line up in register order School day begins at 8:50am Play time at am Lunch at noon School day ends at 3.20pm

BEL0W AGE-RELATED EXPECTATIONS
Assessment Throughout the year, formative assessments are carried out and each child’s progress is assessed against age-related expectations. Your child will therefore be in one of four broad bands for Reading, Writing and Maths; Below Age- Related Expectations Emerging Expected Exceeding BEL0W AGE-RELATED EXPECTATIONS EMERGING EXPECTED EXCEEDING 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 The expectation is that your child would be in the ‘Emerging’ band at the start of the school year. This is because the curriculum for that year would not yet have been taught to your child. By the end of the school year the expectation would be that your child would be in the ‘Expected’ band. ‘Expected’ means that your child is working at the expected level for a child of that age.

ASSESSMENT Four pupil progress meetings will take place during the year, during which your child’s levels are moderated and progress is discussed with Mr Sherhod/Miss Avery. Parent Consultations will take place in Terms 1 and 4. Key Stage One SATs will take place over two weeks – beginning 6th May and 13th May 2019. End of Year Reports to go home in July.

READING Reading books Your child is responsible for changing his / her book on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please use your child’s reading diary to note down which page your child has read to and any difficulties/strengths. Your child’s diary will be stamped when he/she has read to an adult. Weekly class Library visits.

HOMEWORK Homework will be on a sticker or clipped into Home-School Contact book. Reading 10 minutes daily reading with an adult Every day n/a Spellings 5 minutes daily Monday Counting in 2’s,3’s,5,s and 10’s Maths and/or English 20 minutes total Friday Wednesday

ABSENCE Please notify the school by telephone before 8.50am
If your child has been sick or had diarrhoea, they must be kept home for 48 hours after the last occurrence. If your child arrives after the register has been taken, please ensure you sign them in, in the school office.

Drop in Wednesday 3.25pm – 3.40pm A chance for your child to share his / her work with you.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS If you would like to be a parent volunteer please attend the meeting on Monday 17th September, at 9.00am in the library. We also welcome grandparents to volunteer.
