3 The Law of Conservation of Energy
Energy can be neither created nor destroyed. However, It can be transferred from one form to another. Thus, when the water at the top of the waterfall plunges over the edge, potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.

6 Plate Tectonics The ground is broken into different plates (pieces) that float on lava. Where they meet are called geologic faults. The movement of these plates causes earthquakes, mountains, and island formation.

When these plates move or break the energy is released and transformed into kinetic energy.
