2 Figure 1 The A384T Mutation Impairs Effector Treg (eTreg) Cell Homeostasis by Repressing Batf Expression Batf is expressed at high levels in eTreg cells and maintains the expression of eTreg markers such as GATA3, ST2, and CCR4. The broadened DNA binding specificity of the A384T mutant enables binding to the Batf promoter and repression of Batf expression in Treg cells. Consequently, the number of eTreg cells in A384T mice are reduced, leading to increased numbers of effector conventional T cells in non-lymphoid tissues and accompanying inflammation and autoimmunity.
