Welcome to the PowerPoint that accompanies the Parliamentary Procedure lesson!
I print off the PowerPoint in notes pages to use as a guide as I move throughout the lesson. Each slide will have directions for ways to best engage the students and help them make the most out of the material. Enjoy!

US Army General Henry Robert was asked to preside (chair) a meeting
Feeling that he knew too little to properly conduct the meeting, he looked for answers / ways of conducting meetings Finding that there was no one “correct” way to properly run a meeting, he decided to develop a set of rules to help organizations “Robert’s Rules of Order” came to be

Moving to this slide shows the correct definition. Discuss it with the students and compare it to their definition Then the students will use the word in a sentence and draw an illustration/symbol to help them remember the definition

Explain to the students the proper way to make a motion
Explain to the students the proper way to make a motion. Emphasizing “I Move…” Students will complete the “Making a Motion” Student Activity Sheet. Go over as a class. They should keep the sheet because it will be used in the future.

At the completion of the Types of Motion slides the students will complete the Motion Flashcards.
Students will use these cards to study the motions Explain the importance of amendments and debates Students will complete the Making an Amendment and Let’s Debate Activity Sheets. Go over all the information on the activity sheets with the students. Students will then complete the quiz.
