Expectations Each day, we expect the children to come into school wearing the St Thomas More School Uniform. We advise them to bring in a named water bottle with water in. All jumpers/cardigans should be named. No toys or pencil cases, although toys are allowed on Show and Tell days.
4
We do have set PE days each week, however if we are unable to complete outdoor PE on the specific day we may move it to another time. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in a named bag. Please ensure that your child has a jumper, tracksuit bottoms and shorts in their PE kits as the weather is changeable and they will need shorts for indoor PE. Show and Tell will be every Monday. Please can your children not bring in anything on any other days as they will need to be responsible for their own things.

Homework Reading should be done everyday, whether this is you reading to your child, the child reading independently or them reading to you. Your child has a reading record that they can record in. This will be checked when an adult reads with them. Written homework will be Maths every week. Homework should take no more 20 minutes. We expect all children to complete the MUST section but provide opportunities for children to move their learning forward with challenges if they finish the first task quickly. If you are unsure about any homework. Please ask Miss Fulker. I am happy to help explain!

Spellings Children will receive 6 spellings a week. 5 related to the phonics lessons they have been doing and one Year 1 common exception word. These will be handed out on a Friday with a homework and will be tested on the following Friday.
9
Spelling shed The spellings will be linked to the ones on Spelling shed so that children can access the games if they wish to.

Please help us with Art Shirts and Newspaper!
The children wear protective clothing for Art & Craft, Food Technology and some elements of Design Technology work. Children may bring their own art overall or old shirt to wear. Again these should be clearly marked with the child’s name. We would be grateful for any newspaper that you have too.

Dropping off Please ensure that you do not enter the building when dropping off your child as this is a safeguarding issue. If you are slightly later than the bell, please allow your child to go down the corridor on their own. If you wish to speak to me at that time, please visit the office and arrange an appointment.
16
Making appointments You are more than welcome to speak to Miss Fulker about your child. However, the best times are after school, apart from Wednesdays because of staff meetings. Phone call appointments are also possible. I will strive to keep you informed with whatever happens at school.
