Han Geng was born in HeiLongjiang
Province, a fertile province in the northeast of China. When he was only 13 years old, his teacher found his talent of dancing. She made the suggestion that he should take the examination to enter the China Central National University (中央民族大学).

In 2001 , he attended the “H.O.T China ” singing
competition sponsored by Korean SM Entertainment. Han Geng showed his unique talent for dangcing which surprised all the interviewers. Luckily, he was chosen from 9000 excellent competitors and left China for Korea when he was 17.

Before that, he had been a student in
China Central National University, majoring in folk dancing. When he went to Korea alone without any money,Han Geng didn’t know a single Korean word. He had to receive private lessons in singing, dancing, and acting. However, he overcame all the difficulties and became a member of Super Junior, a singing group consists of 13 members. At that time,Han Geng was the only foreign singer in Korea.

On November 6, 2005, Korean SM Entertainment interoduced the group,
Super Junior,to the public for the first time. And it also introduced the only Chinese member – Han Geng in this shining young group. From then on, the media have been paying extremely close attention to the development of Han Geng’s career. However, things didn’t go well as expected.Due to the nationality-protecting policy in South Korea, Han Geng had to wear a mask when giving public performances during some period of time, which was an unbearable shame and panic for a singer. But he never gave up, nor did he shrink away. He carried on with remarkable perseverance and positive attitude. In spite of his achievement and all the prizes he received,he is not even close to arrogant. He still wears a modest smile and insisted on giving the thank-you speech in Chinese on the music festivals. “I consider myself as an ice-breaker between Koreans and Chinese culture. I hope I’m more than a singer to my fans, and I will do my best to demonstrate to the whole world that Chinese people are excellent in all aspects,” once said Han Geng in an interview.
