Trans.History/ How I use it
I use films, as well as other materials related to the history of the Jewish community, the Holocaust, the post-war Jewish history, prepared by Centropa, for a more emotional and, therefore, more productive perception of educational material by students. Students analyze films during training sessions related to the history of the Second World War, civil rights, conflicts in society, etc. / “Return to Rivne: A Holocaust Story” and “Haya-Lea Detinko: Surviving Stalin’s Gulag” and interviews with Jewish citizens of Ukraine who survived the Holocaust were used.

Trans.History/ Why I use it
Centropa films: help us improve curriculums and extend usual teaching methods. promote development of critical and reflective thinking allow to create a tolerant environment, a civic responsibility for young people, which is currently particularly relevant for Ukraine. develop respect for other peoples, to raise empathy, critical attitude to their own and other peoples' histories, enable discussing Jewish history of Ukraine and forming a culture of balanced memory Gives personal approach to history and honor the memory of Holocaust victims prevent manifestations of anti-Semitism, xenophobia, racism and intolerance in the Ukrainian society.

Centropa films are designed not only for the pupils in schools, but also to the students in higher educational institutions. The stories in the films can be used in a wide range of disciplines and topics.
