K6 Schematic Analysis and Pictorial Diagram

Turn to page K6 in the Student Handout Packet

The pictorial on page K6 does NOT have a schematic for it, but you can use former schematics to help you to figure this one out. HINTS: There are 2 notes on how some devices are to be wired. Just a suggestion. I would wire the fan/limit switches in the POWER circuit. It should be easier that way. The ‘firestat’ should be wired BEFORE the fan switch in the hot wire going to the fan/limit.

The firestat is a heat sensor so that if there is a fire, it will shut down the fan and the gas valve. With the fan shut down, heat and smoke is not blown into the building and there would be a better chance that the fire would be contained. You will need to wire the humidifier so that it will only operate when the fan is energized.

Try to complete the pictorial on your own before proceeding
Try to complete the pictorial on your own before proceeding. This will be a test to see if you understand series and parallel circuits and how they are used in a pictorial.

OK, your turn. Go for it, and remember NOT to look until you are finished, if at all possible.
