7 What will my year look like as a Freshman?
Most classes are 1 credit which is two semesters long. If you do not pass a semester, you have to retake the semester for credit. All core classes and foreign language count towards your GPA (grade point average). GPA is calculated after each semester and your class is ranked. Top 10% of your graduating class receives automatic college admission; Top 7% for University of Texas at Austin.

8 Honor Classes Honors and PAP classes--5% AP and Dual-credit--10%
Ex: 90 in an Honors course will be calculated as 94.5; 90 in AP course will be calculated as 99. These courses count towards GPA as long as they are in your core content and foreign language.

9 What next? Course selection sheet will be sent home to view with parents. Individual meetings with Mr. Owens and Mrs. Witt to select courses based on interest Select an endorsement which will help with course selection for CTE and electives

13 Beyond Boyd Expo--February 8th
6:00-8:00 pm Come talk to local businesses about hiring guidelines and career path advice Colleges/Universities and Trade schools will have booths for information. AP/Honors/PAP/DC classes--hear from teachers and students about course selection Teachers will be present to share course offerings for 18-19 Information booths on scholarships and industry certifications Come win door prizes!
