A Reading from the Book of Genesis
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, and God's spirit hovered over the water. God said, 'Let there be light', and there was light. God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness. God called light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening came and morning came: the first day. - Genesis 1:1-5

The story of creation tells us that God created the world in six days,
Reflection The story of creation tells us that God created the world in six days, which isn’t meant to be taken literally but rather to reveal to us certain aspects of creation. The world was created with order. There is purpose behind everything and the elements of creation grow in complexity and design. God has a plan for everything that He creates, and all of creation is good.

Pause for a moment and consider this:
God loves all His creation and creatures but humanity is the high point of His creation and is clearly distinguished from the creation of everything else. The beauty of creation reflects the infinite beauty of our Creator God and all of creation reflects the infinite glory of God. Pause for a moment and consider this: A beautiful painting or piece of music reveals something of the person who created it. What then does our beautiful universe and earth reveal about God?

May we always live, love and learn through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We pray together: God our Father, you created the world and sent your own Son to live among us, made of the same stuff, breathing the same air, marvelling at sunrise and sunset just as we do. Help us to participate in the life around and within us as your life, as you living in us and we living in you and in each other. May we always live, love and learn through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
