Grab a Chromebook, sign in, and close the screen.  Welcome! September 27th, Wednesday Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Wednesday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to discuss the prompt with your group. Make sure you stay on task!  Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

4 Body Paragraph #1: Your Thesis in TKAM
The purpose of this paragraph is to show how your thesis is shown in To Kill a Mockingbird. What does Harper Lee do in the text that proves your belief statement is true? If your statement is kindness is more powerful than cruelty, what are some moments of people using kindness and achieving something? What are some moments of people using cruelty but it doesn’t work out for them? If your statement is people are not mostly good at heart, what are some examples of cruelty in the text? What are some moments where people could have used kindness, but chose not to?

5 Body Paragraph #1: Your Thesis in TKAM
1st Body Paragraph Outline: Topic Sentence – What does your paragraph focus on? Supporting Evidence 1 – How is your thesis shown in the book? Supporting quotation with context (What was happening in the book when your quote was said?) Explanation – How does this prove your thesis? Supporting Evidence 2 – How is your thesis shown in the book? Concluding Sentence – Provide further commentary. How is your thesis proven in your chosen examples?

6 Body Paragraph #1: Your Thesis in TKAM
Click on the document underneath today’s date titled “tkam-finalessay-bodyparagraph1.” Read through the document and follow each step. The document has directions for how to write your first body paragraph, step by step. When you finish, you’ll have a complete first body paragraph! Note: Make sure you fully read the directions and examples before asking me to explain it to you – try to understand it on your own first!  Also: make sure you’re writing your body paragraph in the same document that you typed your introduction in. That document will be your essay rough draft. Good luck!
