Language Arts – Warm Up 10/06/17
Quiz Soon – Get Prepared! First, turn in your “Pick the ‘Just Right’ Word” worksheet from yesterday if you did nont already do so. Then, get out your notes from yesterday based on connotation and denotation. Be ready to ask any questions you may have BEFORE you take the open notes quiz. You will have a test on Monday (10/09) based on reflexive and intensive pronouns, complete sentences and fragments, connotation/denotation, and punctuating dialogue.

Essential Question: How can change be significant? What makes a good story? Standard: ELASE6L1.b – Use intensive pronouns (ex.: myself, ourselves). Learning Targets: Define the concept of change through the reading of a narrative. Apply understanding of narrative elements to reading and writing.

Connotation and Denotation Flocabulary Quiz – Open Notes You may use your notes to help you answer the questions. When you finish, submit your work to the homework bin. Then, complete Quick Write #2 in your I.AN. Don’t forget to add it to your Writing Strategies T.O.C. and be sure to follow the directions.

Quick Write #2 Be sure to add “Quick Write #2” to your Writing Strategies T.O.C. Then, follow all parts of the directions to answer the prompt. You may refer back to any page in your I.A.N. for assistance. If you finish early, begin your independent reading. Don’t forget to add to your 3rd Independent Reading Notes ½ page.

Independent Reading You should be on your THIRD book of this school year, at least. Your next Biblionasium book review will be due on Friday, October 27, 2017. Be sure that you have completed your book before Friday, October 27, 2017! Homework: Study for your test on Monday – reflexive/intensive pronouns, complete sentences/fragments, connotation/denotation, punctuating dialogue
