WWII Rationing Pick a primary source and answer the following questions with your group. Be prepared to present. Who created this primary source? When was it created? What was happening during this time period? What is the purpose? What do you see that you didn’t expect? What powerful words and ideas are expressed? What feelings/thoughts does it trigger? What questions does it raise? How does the creator get the point across? Who’s the audience? What biases or stereotypes exist in this? What did you learn about the WWII rationing from this primary source?

Things learned/predicted from this source:
Government created propaganda to support rationing The image of a happy, clean soldier is a lie. They did this because people would start to think that war isn’t that bad and they should contribute to the war effort. Rationing in cities to give soldiers enough to eat and drink. Centered around a soldier to make it personal to people and make the soldier act like it could be a relative. Stereotype: White soldier, says they will have enough so the government doesn’t have pay as much.
