2 WHAT IS AP CAPSTONE? AP Capstone is a 2-year program
Students take AP Seminar their 1st year and AP Research their 2nd year Next year we will be offering AP Seminar to Juniors and Seniors (seniors can still get units for passing AP Seminar) Juniors who complete both years may be eligible to get the AP Capstone Certificate or Diploma

4 Skills You Will Use in AP Capstone

5 What is AP Seminar (Year 1)?
During AP Seminar students will learn the fundamentals of researching at a college level Students will get to choose the topics they wish to research Students will complete 3 performance tasks during year 1 Group Project Group Presentation Task 1 Individual Research Paper Individual Presentation Task 2 AP Exam Analyzing documents Task 3

6 What is AP Research (Year 2)?
During AP Research students choose to deeply explore a topic or question After choosing their topic, students set up a year-long investigation Their investigation will end with a page research paper, presentation, and oral defense 1 Students choose topic 2 Students plan their research and document their progress 3 Students complete their papers 4 Students present their research and complete an oral defense

7 What do you get out of AP Capstone?
AP Seminar AP Research Most colleges accept a 3 on the Seminar exam as elective credit Prepares you to research in college Prepares you to succeed in AP Research the following year Will have successfully completed AP Capstone at the end of the course Will have written the equivalent of a senior thesis If both Seminar and Research are passed with a 3, students can get the AP Capstone Certificate or AP Capstone Diploma

8 What’s the difference between the Certificate and Diploma?
Every student completing AP Seminar and AP Research with a score of 3 or higher will receive the AP Capstone Certificate In order to get the diploma: Score a 3 or higher on both AP Seminar and AP Research Score a 3 or higher on a minimum of 4 additional AP exams, like: AP English 11 APUSH AP Calculus AP CSP AP Psychology AP Spanish AP Studio Art
