DEFINITION Puerperium is the period following child birth during which body tissues, especially the pelvic organs, revert approximately to the pre-pregnant state both anatomically and physiologically.

DURATION Last for approximately 6 week. It is divided into
Immediate – the first 24 years. Early – up to 7 days. Remote – up to 6 weeks.
