Vision: Develop knowledge and skills you need to succeed on the ACT in order to get where you want to go. Mission: Each student will increase ACT score by at least 2 points by the end of the semester.

Quieting the Class/Attention Getter
I will quiet the class or get the class’s attention in the following way: “Voices off in 3, 2, 1.” Freeze and become silent. Turn and face me; pay attention; and keep your eyes on me. Be ready for instruction. I will have something to say.

When a school-wide announcement is made
Once an announcement comes on: Freeze and become silent. Listen carefully to what is being said over the speaker When the announcement is finished, return to working quietly and productively.

When Someone Knocks on the Door
If someone knocks on the door, DO NOT answer it. Only the teacher will answer the door.

Responding to the Teacher’s Request
If I request your attention or redirect your behavior, the only appropriate responses are “Yes sir” or a simple head nod.

Fire Drill Procedure Exit left from the room to the middle hallway near room 211. Exit the building to the back and onto the Courtyard. Go back to the back parking lot, center. Stay with class for Mr. Brocato to take roll.

Team Building/Group Practice
Objective: Build the tallest structure using only the supplies provided. Supplies: 20 pieces of spaghetti 1 marshmallow 1 yard of tape 1 yard of string

Guidelines: You will be given 20 minutes to complete this task After 20 minutes, structures will be measured Towers must stand on their own to be measured Your team’s marshmallow must be on the top of your structure Roles: Spy: looks at other groups to get ideas Code Enforcer: ensures that structure follows guidelines Architect: leads conversation and design of structure Timer: keeps the group up to date with time Expectations: Everyone is on task (putting forth ideas, helping to build, discussing, etc.) Volume 2: Partner Talk Remain seated unless you have permission otherwise
