2. Facing Persecution

3. Facing Persecution
Gospel naturally produces conflict and persecution, cf. Acts 20:22; 21:4, 11ff. (Matthew 5:10-12; Romans 8:17-18; 1 Peter 4:12-13).
Note how persuasive “unbelieving Jews” were. Acts 14:14, 19; cf. Mark 11:9-10 and Mark 15:12-14

4. Perseverance of the Faithful Acts 14:21-27
We enter the kingdom of God through many tribulations
Persecution endured through patient faith, 14:22
Paul and Barnabas are a pattern of perseverance, Acts 14:5-7, 19-21; 2 Timothy 3:10-12
Faith comforts and sustains the persecuted, 14:22; Hebrews 11:35-39; cf. 2 Timothy 1:12
Faith in God’s grace and strength, 2 Corinthians 12:9- 10
Conscience toward God, 1 Peter 2:19-23 “Life is not always fair!”
