German invasion of Poland—September 1, 1939 Allied Powers had followed the policy of appeasement when Hitler entered the Rhineland, annexed Austria and took over the Sudetenland BUT… Appeasement ended with the invasion of Poland…Britain and France declared war on Germany and the alliances were enacted
