3 Systems for SC Alternate Assessments
Testing Systems Administrative/Reporting Systems Online Test Delivery System (TDS) TA Interface Student Interface Requires Secure Browser Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) Online Reporting System (ORS) There are two general categories of systems for the South Carolina alternate assessments – those with an administrative or reporting function, and those that are used for testing. Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) TIDE stores district and school pre-ID information and test material orders. It provides test coordinators with the tools to add and manage users for administrative tasks associated with the Alternate Assessment. TIDE allows authorized users to add, view, edit, and remove district- and school-level users; add, view, edit, and remove student information; order test materials and track shipments; and invalidate or reset an assessment. Through the Monitoring Test Progress task, authorized users can monitor student participation and testing throughout an administration window. Online Reporting System (ORS) Through the ORS, authorized users can view student performance data, access downloadable data files, and download individual student reports. Test Delivery System (TDS) Test Administrators will use TDS to access the SC-Alt Online Assessment. It is made up of two components: The TA Interface and the Student Interface. Test Administrators will use the TA Interface to set up a test session, approve students to test, establish accessibility features, pause student tests (if needed), and stop test sessions. The TA Interface is web-based and does not require the installation and use of a special application. The Student Interface can only be accessed through the secure browser. The secure browser prevents students from accessing other computer or Internet applications and from copying test information. It also occupies the entire computer screen. Instructions for installing the secure browser are available on the portal. Test Administrators and District Test Coordinators for Alternate Assessment will require assistance from Technology Coordinators in installing the Secure Browser and ensuring that audio is correctly set-up and that computers have the proper voice packs configured or installed. Users may additionally require assistance in using the other online systems listed on this slide.
